TECHNIQUE - Background 'scrunch'

Morning crafters

I'm wasn't sure what this technique should be called but think 'scrunch' is a good description.

When my Stampin' Up! orders arrive, they are well packaged in lots of brown packing paper, which I try and recycle for different purposes. I love textured effects and also making the perfect co-ordinating background for projects.

I've done this technique a long while back with scrunched up ring binder poly pockets into drops of re-inker on a tile. This way is less messy and recycling 'free' paper.

Screw up ball of paper and dab onto ink pad - here I've used Old Olive ink pad.  Randomly 'stamp' it all over your chosen piece of card.

Next repeat with your 2nd chosen colour - here I've used Pool Party ink pad.

Finally repeat with 3rd chosen colour - here I've used Rose Red ink pad.

You now have a piece of background card to use as you wish.

Here's are a set of 3 cards I've made using the Card Candy Toppers posted yesterday using this technique as a background.

I hope you like this effect and have fun experimenting with your own colour combinations.

HAPPY BANK HOLIDAY

Morning crafters

Last night I was pleased to arrive home safely from our Annual Goldwing UK Treffen, this year in Carmarthen, South Wales, approximately 300 miles each way.

The journey to Wales on Wednesday morning was bright, sunny, but most of all 'dry'.  The only rain was whilst we were tucked up in our warm & cosy tent, and yes, the heater did get used for the first time in ages !!

It was lovely as always catching up with many GW friends from across the UK, plus new friendships formed with our European friends in previous years, but missed others from Germany, Holland and Greece who didn't manage to get across this year.

Thanks to modern technology and social media, I had been in contact with a former Barclays colleague Susan Roberts (no relation) who left 18-years ago and now lives very close to where we were staying. We met up Friday for lunch and again on Sunday morning, bringing her family to the Public Open Day to view all the Goldwing motorbikes & trikes on display.  She was amazed at how comfortable it was and I think Tony could see himself riding one too !!

The weather forecast for Sunday night was torrential downpour, with rain and lots of spray forecast for Bank Holiday Monday ride home.  So, at lunchtime yesterday we decided to pack up (in record time) and get on our way, arriving home in the dry, with bright and sunny conditions similar to the journey down.

Today it will be nice to relax and catch up, once the trike and trailer are unloaded, before back at work tomorrow.  I was also asked last night for 45 thank you cards so a spot of crafting whist hubby watches TV later.

VAL's 70th BIRTHDAY CARD

Afternoon crafters

Here is the card I left for Val who celebrated her 70th birthday while we were away in South Wales.

I have used my favourite new In Colour Blackberry Bliss ink pad #133642 to stamp a variety of flowers from Flower Shop #130939 (W) #130942 (C) and Petite Petals #133152 (W) #133155 (C).  The tiny flowers are stamped from Something To Say #134177 (W) #134180 (C) and punched using Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack #133787.

The leaves are a mixture of the Bird Builder Punch #117191 (wing and leaf) punched from the new In Colour Mossy Meadow card #133683

The finished card was decorated with some Dazzling Details #124117 and Rhinestone Basic Jewels  #119246 to finish.

BIRTHDAY INVITATIONS

Morning crafters

I am lucky to have two 'unofficial' adopted Mums, who both celebrate their birthdays, just a week apart.

Val is one of my dear crafting friends but does not have access to a computer.  I was therefore privileged to make invitations to her Open House.  She said after, she was expecting a credit size piece of card with details typed on computer.  This is what she actually got :-

She was over the moon with her 'proper' invitations. I love my new Delicate Designs Embossing Folder #127023 down the left hand side.

The base cards were made from Perfect Plum cardstock with a cupcake  from Cupcake Party #134123 (W) #134126 (C) stamped in the same colour ink and punched with the co-ordinating Cupcake Punch #121807.

Pop back soon to see the card I made for her 70th birthday.

ILWS - DEMO SWAP - "For The Boys"

Morning crafters

This months swap with my friends and colleagues over at 'In Love With Stamping', was a male theme.

Here I have used World Map #130342 (W) #130345 (C) stamped in Black ink and heat embossed with Stampin' Clear Embossing Powder #109130. I prefer this way rather than using black embossing powder, tonprevent stray black flecks being left behind.

I then coloured in the sea using one of the Aqua Painters #103954 with a loose wash of Lost Lagoon ink #133644 and Mossy Meadow ink #133645 for the land areas. I was amazed at how many shades I achieved with just one ink pad, as it seemed to break down on my tile 'pallette' into other blue and yellow pigments - which I loved for this project !

The gorgeous new Stitched Mossy Meadow Satin Ribbon #133670 was tied round card before layering onto card base.

I chose one of the sentiments from Chalk Talk #130631 (W) #130634 (C) for my topper and punched out using the co-ordinating Extra Large Oval Punch #119859.

Remember if you woukd like to order this stamp or any other Stampin' Up products, please click on the link in red below to take you to my online shop.  Buy anytime 24/7 and have delivered direct to your home.

Hope you like my swaps this month.  See you back again soon.

FAREWELL CARD

Morning crafters

Here is a card I made yesterday for one neighbour to give to an American neighbour posted back to the USA.

She wanted something that they could keep to remind them of the local area (hence the map showing village and base.  Flags were resized from images on the computer and attached to cocktail sticks for flag poles.

The ever popular Owl punch appears again. Apologies didn't get posted last night as too late and needed sleep !

CHRISTMAS CLUB GROUP

Evening crafters

This month, my local Christmas card group used a mixture of 'Old Meets New' products.

My Stampin' Up! Online Shop (linked in red below) features a regular Clearance Rack section with up to 80% discounts on retired products, but hurry these are only whilst stocks last.

When I discovered the Merry Little Christmas Simply Created Card kits #132158 in one of my favourite colour combinations were on clearance, I stocked up as these were ideal packs to use in my monthly craft groups.  I started sketching some samples using new stamp sets from the Autumn/Winter catalogue, available for customers to order from 28th August. The colour combination is one of my favourites and at only £3.59 instead of £8.95 they are terrific value, containing EIGHT card banks, envelopes, envelope liners, Designer Series Paper strips, white tags, together with buttons and bakers twine to complete eight complete cards

I still have other people to complete so don't want to spoil the surprise, so will only reveal one design at the moment.  The others will be posted soon.

If you wish to crack on with your Christmas cards, having everything prepared for you, simply adding your own choice of stamps, then please click on my online shop below and snap up this offer while they are still available. Remember, only £3.59 for EIGHT complete cards. Class sheet containing many different designs, all using these clearance rack kits, will be forwarded to all who purchase from me.

OWL GRADUATION

Evening crafters

Here's another quick card that is going to a work colleague tomorrow.

The Owl Punch #118074 is definitely my favourite of them all, he is just sooooo versatile.

Here I have used Soft Suede with the new Hello Honey card stock.  The greetings come from Teeny Tiny Sentiments #130042 (W) #120024 (C) and And Many More #134273 (W) #134276 (C).  The background paper is from an old dictionary and sponged edges.

CUPCAKE SHOP CARD

Morning crafters !

Back again as promised to share another of last weeks card requests.

Tracey asked me to make a handbag card and I remembered making a similar card some time back, with a striped candy floss awning using Word Window punch #119857.  This one uses a new Delicate Designs Embossing Folder #127203.

Cupcakes were stamped from the new Cupcake Party #134123 (W) #134126 (C) stamp set and punched with Cupcake Builder punch #121807.

This card front was then made into an easel card with another handbag popped inside with the greeting.

Another rapid speed card turnaround.  I've made sure she has my mobike number to text next time !

FOOTIE CARD

Evening crafters !

Back from my Christmas Club group ths evening and finally grabbed some time finishing off blog posts in my draft folder.

Last week I had two last minute requests for cards to be made that evening and taken into work the next day.

I've seen this style of football card made using cut outs from the Hexagon framelits die, so thought something similar using the Hexagon punch #130919 would fit the bill perfectly.

I punched six hexagons from the white layer and attached to Basic Black base card.  Edges of each Hexagon were sponged with co-ordinating Garden Green ink pad and arranged on a scrap of Basic Black card. The Circle Framelit set #130911 then made quick work of cutting the 'football' through my Big Shot Die-Cutting machine.

The sentiment is a stamp set from the new Annual Catalogue launched last month And Many More #134273 (W) #134276 (C) and was stamped in Basic Black ink with the ends being punched with corner of the hexagon punch, as it was already out on my desk !

The background for the 'grass' was made using a retired Square Lattice Embossing folder.  As the folder wasn't big enough for my 6" square card, I turned layer round and popped it through again, using a narrow strip of black card to make a faux ribbon and cover join.

Despite the short notice, she loved the card and has also now placed an order for several boxes for Christmas gifts. I was so disappointed that new DSP coming in the new Autumn/Winter catalogue wasn't in stock for our Demostrator pre-order.  Never mind, I'm ready to get cracking when they arrive.

Pop back soon to take a peek at the other card she ordered.
