I hope you are all well and looking forward to the warmer weather. I have some latest news from Stampin' Up! which I simply must share with you.

.

Stampin' Up! are changing their colours in the new catalogue which will be launched on 1st October 2010. Lots of new colours to look forward to but sadly some are retiring too.

.

The hot news for May is that they have introduced 11 new products with 3 New In Colours. Now not all of the items are guaranteed to be in the new catalogue and some only be while stocks last (remember last years mini catalogue with the oval punches and stamps ..... well they were such a sell out success, they just had to put them in the next main catalogue).

.

These are such wonderful colours and the Design Series Paper were some I was trying to get from Stampin' Up! USA.

CRAFTERS VERSE

I was looking through my archives to send a handmade card to a fellow crafter and thought you might appreciate this.

If crafting is a petty crime,

then I will soon be doing time.

If crafting is against the law,

then I'll do time for ever more.

.

I sit and craft from morn 'til night,

my husband does despair,

but armed with heat gun, ink pads too,

I really just don't care.

.

The more I see, the more I want,

I cannot see an end,

to sticky pads and funky foam,

I have to spend, spend, spend.

..

I made a candle, just last week,

it turned out quite a mess,

I think I'll stick to making cards,

'coz that's what I do best !

Don't forget, if you are copying anything someone else has created, it is common courtesy to give credit to the person you copied from, no matter whether it is a verse or card design etc.

KRAFTY BIKER TAKES CONTROL !!!!!

Hooray !!!!!!!! I finally got the opportunity to ride the Trike on a proper drive out, not just round the village !!!

.

Just got back from this months Goldwing Club meeting at Trimley St Martin near Felixstowe. David pulled over on the way there for me to swop over but I was concerned we might be late, as I know I won't drive as fast as him. Well after all, he has been riding bikes for years.

.

So the return journey, once we got off the dual carriageway at Woolpit, the machine was mine and David was the back seat driver ........ ouch !!!!

.

Lovely day for it but strong cross winds to contend with (no not the chilli David had for lunch in the bar !!!!)

.

Sorry no photo as no-one around with us !!!

.

Won't be long before I have the confidence to go out on my own I'm sure. Sorry Angie, I wouldn't dare take it down your road.

BLACK & WHITE WORKSHOP

Here is one of the cards we will be making at tomorrows workshop in Bury St Edmunds using products from the New Mini Catalogue.

Here I also used the new Speciality Designer Series Paper containing 10 sheets of DSP in black and white and also 2 sheets of polka dot accetate featured above.

STAMPERS 10

We have recently got our first 'Stampers 10' group off the ground, meeting in Thetford for 2hrs once a month. Each monthly class is FREE OF CHARGE however you commit to spend £15 of your choice each month, from the catalogue. Each month one of the group takes in turns to be 'Hostess of the Month' and receive all the usual hostess benefits and free gifts. This is an excellent way to build up crafting supplies on your wish list. Other people are now waiting for another full group to commence in various locations so if you think you may be interested and wish to know more, please get in touch. .

Well here it is at long last .......

WHAT A WEEKEND !!!

Well what can I say......... Angie and I attended the Stamp With Us Retreat at the end of March in Stratford on Avon and had so much fun. Starting at 8am Saturday and not finishing until 10:30pm was a long first day but when we crafters get away from everything to craft for a whole weekend with like-minded people, we need to cram in as much as we can.

.

Sunday started early again with doors opening at 8:30am and first project finished by the time most people get out of bed on a Sunday morning !!!

.

Our hosts, Monica, Natalie and Zoe were all full of so much energy and fun, I think we are nearly all booking for the next one. I heard the last one in July 2009 was themed 'Christmas in July' and dressed up as Santa Claus', playing Christmas carols etc.

Our first project was Monica's folded box card and earring set.

Zoe (Mrs Wonka) loves her chocolate and couldn't resist this nice Easter project. Here we decorated a pot and clear film with white Staz On. Decorated tag and embellishment matched a beautiful Easter card.
Natalie's decorated accetate box and 4 card set - the cards were all the same design but used totally different colours from the Pink Flamingo DSP pack.

Crafting not finished for the day yet .... we were given the option to join the 'party evening' ...... yes more crafting from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. Zoe's decorated photo album cover, Natalie's covered notebook with paper rose and Monica's 3D card with ladybirds (or sausages ... you had to be there for that one !!!!).

Raffle time and more goodies to add to our FREE stash. I was lucky enough to win the SU Hostess Level 3 gift - Queue Up. Everyone was given a free ticket for the evening to win a FREE Sale A Bration set - there was enough for one each. The book 'CARDS - Spring 2010, was kindly given FREE to everyone - Natalie is now the Editor of the publication !!! The Best Wishes & More set was FREE on each work station on arrival and included in cost of the Crafting Retreat. With several SU demos and customers attending, how the team managed to pick a set that none of us already had, was amazing !!!

.... and so to bed ..... tired crafters all adjourned to our beds having finished the last project at 10:30pm and found our wonderful hosts for the weekend had got the evening staff to deliver a beautifully decorated bath bomb to each of our pillows. Such a kind gesture.

This is Natalie's canvas project - the photo doesn't do the project justice - I still have to cut out words and fix on ribbon.

This is Monica's mini album project - inside were 12 mini scrapbook pages to complete (probably not until Easter weekend).

We have received confirmation of the dates for 4th and 5th September 2010 at Haslemere. Angie and I reserved and paid our deposits on the release date. There will be 2 spaces in my car should anyone else wish to go too. We plan to leave about 9am Friday morning with a view to arriving lunch time to relax and catch up with others. Classes start from 8am Saturday and therefore want to arrive fresh (not racing there through rush hour traffic after work late Friday evening). Give me a call if you think you might be interested. I'm sure your will not be disappointed !!

UPDATES TO PREVIOUS ENTRIES

Apologies for my lack of info lately. We all lead very busy lives, however, mine has just changed ..... for the better.

.

I started my new job on Monday, just 1 mile up the road and loving every minute. It is everything I expected and my new colleagues are all so very welcoming. I don't miss working long hours and the 1hr travelling each end of the day at all !!!!!! Worklife balance has truly been restored and will no doubt spend a lot of this extra 'free' time for crafting and blogging.

Anyway, here is the Make & Take from the Sincerely Yours event recently. I have also made in a couple of other colours.

STAMPERS 10 - THETFORD

Well I am so pleased to announce that our first Stampers 10 in Thetford finally got off the ground Thursday evening. I already have a few names interested in other groups too, so please forward me any friends you feel may wish to be included.

.

I am so grateful to Jo who has been a tremendous help in organising our wonderful venue. I will bring bottled water next time and we will try and find out how to turn down the heating !!!

This is the card we made for our first meeting. Everyone had the 'wow' factor when I showed them what we would be making. This is a style of card I was shown by my friends, Jean and Vicky, when I was running a class in Stamford last Friday - they had some wonderful examples to show me.

I will also be demonstrating this card at Hethersett group on Sunday 14th March.

SATURDAY WORKSHOPS

The butterfly OSW workshop making 15 cards booked for 27th February at Moreton Hall in Bury is now fully booked. (A sample of some of these purple cards is on an earlier post).

.

However, good news. I have just secured a date for repeat in Thetford. Unfortunately the earliest date that both myself and Riversdale were free is Saturday 15th May. Anyone wishing to book their place, please contact me ASAP on 07806 616704 or sroberts07@btinternet.com.

The workshop will be from 10am-4pm and all materials will be provided to make 15 cards using one sheet of 12"x12" double sided DSP scrapbook paper. You will receive the template at the workshop and also examples of how to change template to make Christmas cards using similar layouts. You will need to bring a packed lunch and a mug, your usual craft basics eg cutting board, pencil, ruler, scissors, double sided tape or tape runner etc. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.

Remember your camera to take pictures of samples if you wish.

SINCERELY YOURS CRAFT EVENT @ THETFORD

It was lovely to see so many of you at the event on Sunday. Angie, Sarah and I had a fantastic but very busy day.

The Stampin Up draw prizes on the day were won by Christine Abbott from Dereham and Peggy Baker from Hockwold. Both ladies took delivery of their gifts today with our congratulations.

.

Weekend news

Well slight change of plans this weekend. David has had the 'Nora' virus (D&V) since Wednesday evening and yesterday at work, I came down with it as well - I can tell you it's not nice.

.

I should have been at sister-in-laws hen weekend in Birmingham tonight but obviously not well enough to travel and not wanting to pass on to others and risk jepodising the wedding !!

.

Our get well wishes also go out to Zena who has just come out of hospital having had a burst appendix. We finally managed to catch up this afternoon and she is starting to feel stronger although it will be another few weeks before she can travel back to Portugal.

.

Yesterday I was finally able to hand my notice in at work finishing on 5th March and therefore able to start new job from 8th March, just waiting confirmation. I am really looking forward to my new role and challenges it will bring. Working only 1 mile from home will be fantastic bonus.

.

SATURDAY

Saturday afternoon we had lots of fun at my impromptu class at the village hall, while hubby was away. It was a shame not everyone could come that I was initially expecting, but those that were there are all eagerly waiting the next one ...... unfortunately I have no Saturdays free in February or March !!!!! Of course there are some already scheduled at other venues during these months.

Here are a couple of cards we made using Trendy Trees. This set isn't one I would have chosen from the SU catalogue until I received several swops at the SU Convention in November which used this set. This is the whole idea of swops, to inspire others to do something different by sharing ideas.

This first card was given to me by Julie Kettlewell and you can visit her blog @ www.juliesjapes.blogspot .com

This 2nd card was inspired by a swop I received from Bianca Schulz from Germany as I loved the way she made the hills from circle punches and inked the edges to create shadow.

The rest of the cards we made from the 'love theme' ones earlier in my blog. For the easel card everyone chose a design from the Fun and Fast Notes stamp set.

Kate chose a different colour theme to make a baby card which also used a sentiment from the free SAB Whimsical words stamp set.

I was so pleased Kate enjoyed her tour of our village here in Northwold !! She got a little lost and was surprised when the hairdressers at the end of the road hadn't heard of Normandy Close (which was only a few hundred yards down the road from them) but pleased they could direct her to the village hall.

Thanks again ladies, it was a very enjoyable afternoon which I promise will be repeated.

TEN PIN - KING PIN !!!!

This morning the Broadland East Anglia Region (BEARs) Goldwing club had a practice bowling session for the Inter Region competition taking place on 21st March.

.

Look who got the award for the highest ladies score (me on the left !) ......... Mick (centre) got the highest men's score and Sonia (right) got the award for the lowest score. I was told that I had also qualified for the men's team as I got over 120 !!!!

.

Just a shame that I can't make the Inter Region competition itself as I am away crafting that weekend at the Stamp With Us Retreat in Stratford on Avon.

.

You see I have my priorities right as always !!!!

SATURDAY 30th JANUARY 2010

Husband away, the crafters will play ............ here's the deal ............

Our house is not designed to fit many people together for crafting so ....... I have booked Northwold Village hall (opposite our estate) from 12.30 - 5pm (can't have any earlier due to regular weekly booking).

.

Cost will be £5 each for 4.5hrs crafting and I will supply class materials and tea, coffee and bickies. Please bring your own mug !! There will be a small 'crafty' raffle to pay for the hall.

.

I will have the SU catalogue and Sale A Bration leaflets with me if you wish to purchase anything and take advantage of the FREE stamp sets but this is an impromptu 'crafting for fun' day and not an organised party/workshop.

.

You will need your basic crafting kit, eg cutting board, trimmer, scissors, pencil, ruler etc and come and have fun crafting with us. All I ask is that you drop me an email sroberts07@btinternet.com text or call me on 07806 616704 to let me know how many to expect so I have enough materials.

CANDLES FOR ANY BIRTHDAY

This card was made with one of the SU Hostess level 3 gifts - Queue Up !

The actual stamp has 13 candles on the mount, however, depending on the age of the person you are making for, you could use the right number of candles for any age birthday. Here I have only inked up 10 of the candles on 3 strips to make a masculine 30th birthday card for one of my friends' husband. You could add any number of candles using a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line them up. This works particularly well for mens cards (we all know how difficult they can be !)

The DSP used here retired from the catalogue last year but you can use any colour, take cardstock colours to co-ordinate and then colour candles accordingly. To finish, I used Crystal Effects on the candles to give shiny 3D effect as if they are glowing.

HAITI DISASTER APPEAL

In the past, when terrorists attacked the Twin Towers, when a Tsunami struck Indonesia, when a hurricane destroyed New Orleans, and when wild fires ravaged Australia, Stampin' Up demonstrators and customers stepped forward and showed their commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

Help make a difference now, in the lives of those who continue to suffer the effects of the devasting earthquake that struck Haiti on 12 January. From now until 28th February 2010, Stampin' Up will set aside £1 from the sale of every Greenhouse Garden stamp set and donate it to the Red Cross' Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.

This is a lovely set of 10 stamps retails at £22.95. I will hopefully have some samples on here very soon.

SNEAK PREVIEW - February Workshop

Next months Workshop @ Moreton Hall, Bury St Edmunds is on Saturday 27th February, 10am - 4pm. Booking is essential as I know this is already proving very popular.

You will all be given a 12"x12" sheet of Perfect Plum DSP (page 76 SU catalogue) and we will make 15 cards using my own unique OSW - you will be given a template at the end of the Workshop to take home. You may have seen other versions for this type of project but together with my downline Pat, we have made a simplified template and designed our own card layouts, incorporating the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set and Butterfly punch. Here are just 2 of the cards we will be making next month.

I know several of you are looking forward to this Workshop, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

JANUARY WORKSHOP - Love theme

Yesterday was another fab workshop with a 'Love' theme. Crafters made a selection of cards that could be adapted for Valentine's Day, Weddings, Anniversaries, Mothers Day etc.

The day started with an easy card from Pixie Pink cardstock with hearts trio from Love You Much stamp set embossed in white onto Bravo Burgandy and punched using the Heart to Heart punch. The eyelet border punch trimmed the edges and a Sentiment from Curvy Verses finished the card.


This card was made from Basic Black and Real Red cardstock. Stamp was from Love You Much set and was completed using the Scallop Square, Heart to Heart and 1 1/4" circle punches. I also had a sample of this worked in reverse with a red base, however as you cannot stamp onto black card, I did an extra layer with black 1 1/4" circle punch and stamp punched from red cardstock as with this sample.

This was the first of two 'Easel' cards. It was good that no-one in the class had made these before but all agreed this was a simple but very effective way to make a different style card. The base is chocolate chip cardstock with DSP from Bella Bleu. The stamp is from Fun and Fast Notes. The sentiment is from Wonderful Words which are a beautiful set but don't think you have to use the entire length of the stamp. I punched the centre with Large Oval punch from Naturals Ivory and a Scallop Oval from chocolate chip. This was mounted with 3D foam pads for the 'easel' to prop up against.

This card was made from Ruby Red cardstock with DSP from retired set Holiday Treasures and Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon. Two large hearts from Love You Much stamp set were embossed with Versamark and clear embossing powder and cut out by hand (sorry SU do not have a punch for this one). Sentiment is from Wonderful Words, stamped in Chocolate Chip ink on Ruby Red cardstock and matted and layered onto Chocolate Chip with a scallop edge border.

This 'Easel' card was made from white cardstock, edged with Versamark pen and silver embossing powder. This was the first time I have used the new white satin ribbon. Sentiment is from Curvy Verses, champagne glasses are from New Year's Celebration, hearts are from Love You Much and punched with Heart to Heart punch. The wedding Day greeting is not SU.

JANUARY WORKSHOP - D.I.Y. card

The final card made at yesterdays workshop, I gave each person an open invitation to use any products in the room. There were several different colours of cardstock which we had used during the day, pens, ink pads, lots of sets of stamps, including all 4 FREE Sale A Bration sets, a large selection of punches etc.

Zena's card

Zena chose to use the Pheasant from Autumn Days, sentiment from a retired Hostess set and retired DSP Holiday Treasures. This was finished off with chocolate chip Grosgrain ribbon.

Julie's card

Julie used the baby pram strip from Hostess level 3 gift 'Queue Up', retired DSP Holiday Treasures and sentiment from new SAB 2010 set Whimsical Words. The hearts punch made a 'window' to see the DSP underneath. The background is very pale but was stamped with delicate flower head from Very Versatile which I've only just realised was retired from the last catalogue !

Michelle'card

Michelle chose to make another 'Easel' card and used the large heart from Love You Much stamp set. Hearts were stamped and punched and drinks strip was stamped from Hostess gift Queue Up. Sentiments were Curvy Verses inside and one from retired set Very Versatile on the outside. Unfortuantely the camera does not show the colours very well - Michelle has used Bravo Burgandy and Pink Passion which worked very well together. The words 'Mum' were cut freehand.

Carol's card

Carol chose DSP from Bella Bleu with Brocade Blue cardstock and ink on a Naturals Ivory card base. Sentiment was from Wonderful Words and flower topper from FREE Sale A Bration set Happy Moments. The buttons were created by hand using the 1/2" circle punch and all images were sponged with Brocade Blue ink.

Vicky's card

Vicky made her card from chocolate chip cardstock with DSP from retired Holiday Treasures. The flower was layered from DSP using 5 petal and Boho Blossoms punches. The sentiment was from retired set Very Versatile. Vicky had great fun with the very fine Stampin' Glitter covering everything in gold !!

.

I hope you agree these are lovely cards and I think everyone appreciated having a 'play' with products they might not nomally use. We may have to try this again at future workshops.

Jo's party

Thanks Jo for letting me back to your house for another workshop. As always we had lots of fun and looking forward to seeing you all at Marilyns next month. Here at the cards we made :-This card was made from one of the FREE Sale A Bration sets - Happy Moments. The DSP is from Tea & Crumpets using Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke and So Saffron. I deliberately didn't put a greeting on mine as I am waiting for the Word Window to arrive to finish it off. Some ladies used small neat words from the free sets and matted and layered.

This card was made using another of the FREE Sale A Bration sets - Vintage labels. This stamps works excellently with the scallop punch. The base card is Kraft cardstock and matted with remnants of Naturals Ivory and Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla. The DSP was a gorgeous pack called Bella Bleu and was finished off with a piece of Chocolate Chip 5/8" Grosgrain ribbon. These are some of my favourite colours.

Little Creations

Here are two 10x10cm cards that I have made from 'scraps'. I save most of my remnants left over from projects and, no matter how small, most of them can be used. The strips that are left over from the border punches or that have been trimmed down when matting and layering are what I used to create these 2 projects.

Birthday Wishes is again from Sincere Salutations uses a small piece of DSP from Tea & Crumpets with Pocket Silhouettes stamps in Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip cardstock and the eyelet border punch.

Sister-In-Law's Wedding Invites

This is the design my sister-in-law Mandy chose for her wedding invites for February 2010. Husband-to-be has Irish in his family and they wanted green and shamrocks to be included somewhere in the design. The card stock is Hunter Green and Very Vanilla but the remainder are non-Stampin' Up products (I'm sure you will all recognise the Swiss dots embossing plate !) . The card is an A6 gatefold style with the ribbon ends cleverly 'hidden' between the layers. The inside has a plaque matted and layered on Hunter Green and Very Vanilla with punched and embossed corners with a shamrock in the corner.

Thanks Sharon for lending me the cartridge for the Shamrocks - they were perfect !!

Sale A Bration is here !!

This is the first card I have made with my free Sale A Bration set Good Neighbours. The clouds fit well with this set but are a bit pale to show up on the photo.

Christmas Commisisoned Order

This card was commissioned by one of my customers at work. I made 120 of these at short notice for delivery 1st week of December !! The photo doesn't show very well but I used Woodcut Holly roller with Versamark to create a watermark and the same for the green band. The greeting is from Season of Joy stamp set and completed with the scallop edge, scallop oval and large oval. This worked well with 10x10cm card that I made for a demo swop at Peterborough earlier in 2009.

Happy New Year - 2010

Firstly let me wish you all a very Happy New Year and hope you are all staying safe with all the snow that's been falling.

One of my New Year's resolutions is to get my Blog fully functional. The other one wasn't so good as got broken after 3rd day back at work !!
